Who Leads the Camp?
Our dedicated Preschool of the Arts teachers and designated, fun camp counselors will lead each camp session.
Weekly Camp Themes:
Week One Theme: Paint (June 12 – 16): We’ll create it, work with it, and study the nature of paint in various media. We’ll explore the great painters and how they’re influenced by the natural world, how they capture it’s beauty, and how paint changes and creates nuance in life.Â
Week Two Theme: Textiles (June 19 – 23): What can we do with paper and fabric? How can we create something beautiful and unique with materials that we use every day? Campers will explore different ways to create with paper and fabric.
Â
Week Three Theme: Clay and Nature (June 26 – 30): How does nature intersect with clay? How does sculpture, and the molding of clay, lend itself to the study of nature? Our campers will find out this week as they investigate the natural world and grow familiar with clay medium.
Â
Week Four Theme: Sound (July 3 – July 7): How do you experience sound art? While at times, we experience sound art through a live performance or a recording through speakers, we can create it anywhere. We’ll learn how sound can be both invisible and visible, while studying the mystery and magic it creates.
Week Five Theme: Light and Metal (July 10 – 14): Metal can be purposefully functional or purely decorative. Light moves with fluidity and necessity. This week, our campers will explore the nature of the two media together – how they intersect and diverge, how they work together to create a unique beauty in art.
